Whittle Consulting are pleased to announce the appointment of a new mining consultant, John Battista
John has extensive experience in senior roles with Mining Plus, Golder Associates, Minemax and BHP Billiton. In these roles he has provided principal-level mining engineering consultancy services and technical guidance to leading local and international mining clients.
In an international career spanning 3 decades, 6 continents and virtually all mining commodities, John has run pit optimisations and conducted life-of-mine strategic planning studies from the Artic Circle to the deserts of Mauritania. Now based in Perth, Australia, John’s experience in mining engineering and mining optimisation will be a valuable resource for clients of Whittle Consulting.
John has been a GEOVIA Whittle software user since the mid 1990’s. John first used Whittle Four-X and Opti-Cut mine software for pit optimisation whilst working in the Golden Mile in Kalgoorlie, Australia. John’s experience in pit design, mine scheduling and Ore Reserves reporting has also seen him use the full suite of mine software, databases and spreadsheets available to the mine planning industry. Whilst working in a corporate role at BHP Billiton, John also honed his corporate skills as the liaison between software developers and users of the internal Blasor software.
John has a deep understanding of the benefits to be gained from undertaking mine planning, design, scheduling, mine optimisation, project management, feasibility studies and Due Diligence assignments for open pit mines and underground mines. In his new role at Whittle Consulting, John will support, participate and lead mining clients as they undertake Whittle Strategic Assessments, Enterprise Optimisation Studies and Tactical Theory of Constraints analysis and implementations in mining operations and projects worldwide.
John’s experience is an excellent fit in the growing Whittle Consulting team. His appointment is a result of the widespread acceptance, within the mining industry, that the Whittle Integrated Strategic Mine Planning approach is the best, (or only), way to enhance mine valuation and to unlock the opportunities inherent within mining businesses.
