Whittle Consulting is pleased to announce the appointment of Galen Campbell as a Consultant, further strengthening the company’s consulting team.
Galen, based in Perth, Western Australia, brings over 18 years of international mining experience, with deep expertise in strategic mine planning, tailings management, and cross-functional leadership across both Canadian and Australian operations.
Galen began his career as a mining engineer with Imperial Oil, contributing significantly to the development and expansion of the Kearl Oil Sands Project. His 15-year tenure at Imperial Oil included work in medium- to long-range mine and tailings planning, equipment procurement, and reserves & resources assessment. Notably, he played a central role in updating and implementing Kearl’s strategic mine plan, leading internal training initiatives and supporting major regulatory applications for the new plan.
In 2022, Galen relocated with his family to Australia, where he joined Minara Resources’ Murrin Murrin Operations. Initially overseeing the mine engineering team, he was later promoted to superintendent, expanding his leadership to include geology and survey teams. During his time at Murrin Murrin, Galen led several improvements to strategic planning and in-pit tailings strategies, leveraging best practices shaped by Whittle Consulting over the past two decades.

Galen holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, and is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).
He joins Whittle Consulting at a time of continued growth, as the company supports mining businesses globally in improving the value of their projects and operations by optimising the entire value chain through its
Integrated Strategic Planning methodology.
