WHITTLE CONSULTING CASE STUDIES – SEMAFO, MANA GOLD

The best way to explain the benefits of the Whittle Integrated Strategic Mine Planning approach is to look at examples of our project work. Since 1999, Whittle Consulting has a proven track record in mining optimisation and mine planning with many of the largest mining companies around the world, undertaken across all commodities and in all continents.

Whittle Enterprise Optimisation studies have consistently proven to significantly enhance the economics of mining projects and operations. The full effects of a Whittle Optimisation can be extraordinary. Whittle Consulting regularly achieves NPV increases from 5%-35%, and in many cases substantially more. These improvements to mine valuation occur even when other conventional mine optimisation techniques have already been applied. The SEMAFO, Mana Gold operation is an excellent example of the benefits we provide to our clients.

Semafo Case Study

SEMAFO, MANA GOLD – WEST AFRICA

SEMAFO contracted Whittle Consulting to conduct an Enterprise Optimisation study on the Mana Gold operation in West Africa. The Whittle study showed how changes to cut-off grade value and stockpiling added 8% to NPV. By applying Theory of Constraints and Activity Based Costing, a further 16% increase in NPV was realised. The results to overall mine valuation were financially significant, improving cash flow significantly for the operation.

“It is no exaggeration to say that the Enterprise Optimisation techniques, namely the integration of Activity Based Costing and Theory of Constraints, constitute the most significant innovations that I have seen in almost 30 years of experience in the mining industry.” Peter Knights, Professor of Mining, Queensland University.
