The best way to explain the benefits of the Whittle Integrated Strategic Mine Planning approach is to look at examples of our project work. Since 1999, Whittle Consulting has a proven track record in mining optimisation and mine planning with many of the largest mining companies around the world, undertaken across all commodities and in all continents.
Whittle Enterprise Optimisation studies have consistently proven to significantly enhance the economics of mining projects and operations. The full effects of a Whittle Optimisation can be extraordinary. Whittle Consulting regularly achieves NPV increases from 5%-35%, and in many cases substantially more. These improvements to mine valuation occur even when other conventional mine optimisation techniques have already been applied. The ITM Coal operation is an excellent example of the benefits we provide to our clients.
ITM COAL - INDONESIA
Whittle Consulting performed a Whittle Enterprise Optimisation (EO) study and strategic life-of-mine optimisation on the 9 ITM coal mining operations in Indonesia. In conjunction with ITM, 3 marketing and 2 business improvement scenarios were also prepared. The results of the study illustrated an initial 13% NPV net gain in mine valuation over the base case. With refinements of the optimised case, this was increased to 14%.
“Often, over 60% of the complexity of a Whittle Enterprise Optimisation model is the downstream processing, logistics and market. This enables the development of a mine design and plan that responds to the system it is feeding.”John Baillie, Global Consulting Manager, Whittle Consulting.
