WHITTLE CONSULTING CASE STUDIES – ANGLO PLATINUM, MOGALAKWENA

The best way to explain the benefits of the Whittle Integrated Strategic Mine Planning approach is to look at examples of our project work. Since 1999, Whittle Consulting has a proven track record in mining optimisation and mine planning with many of the largest mining companies around the world, undertaken across all commodities and in all continents.

Whittle Enterprise Optimisation studies have consistently proven to significantly enhance the economics of mining projects and operations. The full effects of a Whittle Optimisation can be extraordinary. Whittle Consulting regularly achieves NPV increases from 5%-35%, and in many cases substantially more. These improvements to mine valuation occur even when other conventional mine optimisation techniques have already been applied. The Anglo Platinum Mogalakwena operation is an excellent example of the benefits we provide to our clients.

ANGLO PLATINUM, MOGALAKWENA – PLATINUM GROUP METALS, SOUTH AFRICA

Whittle Consulting conducted a Whittle Enterprise Optimisation (EO) study for the Mogalakwena operation in South Africa. The major objectives that were achieved for the asset, owned by Anglo Platinum included; deferring and/or minimising capital expenditure, the evaluation of alternative operating strategies, determination of optimal mining and concentrator processing rates and establishing the optimal production rate. This resulted in a significant improvement to overall mine valuation of the operation.

“The Whittle Enterprise Optimisation model is tailored for each site. It determines how much capital is worth spending on each constraint, simultaneously rebalancing the pit, phase, schedule, cut-off, blending, stockpile, processing, product mix and logistics to suit the specifics of each mining project or operation.” Lewis Tota, Technical Services Manager, Whittle Consulting.
